Currently in the studio with Dr. Drum, the electric Chad Pepin and the great Lloyd Johnson!with Les all returning to their roots in the Blues and Rock and working on an upcoming Cd ! Lloyd's playing traces to Lee Michaels, members of T.O.P and Greg Ellmore of Quicksilver. In 1999 Les moved to the Bellingham Area and began to gig with Badd Dog Blues, Karl Jensen and Andy Koch. Les also recorded and gigged with the amazing George Clark on Drums for a short time. Gigging in Pioneer Square with 52nd Avenue West, Sea to Ski, Concerts in the Park, Mount Baker Theatre, Deming Logging Grounds FOK event and the local clubs in Bellingham. Pooner Clark of Kism 92.9 FM Locals Only has featured Les and bands that he has played locally with Paul Laugharne W/SlowBurn & Bone Relix. Les'was born in Marin early childhood in S.F, and raised in Livermore, His music is reflected in the distinct Bay Area sound of Rock and Blues. Older brother Jim Browning had begun to play guitar as a sibling and Les followed and started playing at about 8 years old.He was naturally driven to play guitar that was overdriven, Rock, Blues and Bay Area influenced. Taking in as many Bill Graham Shows as possible.
The Browning family moved into the East Bay Suburb of Livermore a guitar players dream,Les began to jam with next door neighbor Bryan Alsup and Keyboardist Roy Wigley at Junction Avenue Middle School. In freshman year at Granada Highschool they met Rick Jensen a flambouyant drummer with unequaled chops. Paul Laguer would soon join on Latin percussion and together they formed the band Aftershock. Ryan Bernat of Emerald later joined on bass and Vocals.Aftershock was a mixture of songwriters, with Bryan Alsup being the chief songwriter. In the early 1980s Les began jamming with the legendary Blues guitar legend Forrest Frick for a short time in Homegrown,Forrest's Blues, shuffles and Boogie Guitar and vocals are untouchable,also during that time period Les began playing with Keyboard empressario Rik Richardson,began paying attention to the way Ken Koga Played his Strat.His influence along with Frick still impacts Les guitar & slide work even today.
They became part of a sprawling music community including peers and mentors such as Jim Browning, Vic Trigger, Kip Haaheim, Ken Koga, Forest Frick, Paul, Steve, and Pat Alvarez, Dan, Jeff, and Stuart Vash, Todd Clark, Steve Crosby,John Gay,Mike Holdsworth, Scotty London, Marty Schuchardt,Geoff Lloyd, Dave Moreno,Frank Silviera, Dave Koolhoven, John Gay, Tommy Merry,James Dapaiva, Dave Carpender, Sam Fortes, Richard Stewart, Rick Kellogg, George Webb,Jim & Roger Liptak, Bob Norville, Mike Inzerilla, Jim McSharry,Dave MacMillen,Roy Solorio, Steve Boydstun, James Santiago,Dave Kotz,Ric Richardson, Rick Milichichi,John Warmouth and a very young Andy Sturmer. In the Early 90s Les played throughout the California Motherlode, Jamming with such players as Jim Wagner,Mel Hadden, Mark Gosney, Rickey Roberts, Mel Hadden, Greg E. Noll and Fat Kat Gary Flohr.This just mentions some of the players from this magical time and place of the 1970s, 80s, and 90's
